I'm a writer, photographer and fashion entrepreneur whose day job is assisting residents at a rehab center with reinsertion. I started thrifting in church basements in Montreal's East end, in the 1980s. I was definitely the 8-year-old weirdo wearing capelets, crocheted gloves and pearl and leather neckties. This is for sure what forged the path to me becoming a goth and a punk, over following decade. Well, decades; neither were a phase, Mom.
I studied Fashion Design at Lasalle College, was a stylist for years, and I tried to launch a platform almost exactly like this one, over a decade ago. After years of on-and-off vintage pop-ups, private clothing swaps, and micro fashion collections, I founded The Barter Club. As much as the customers loved the concept, I eventually got tired of people haggling me over the $20 barter fee, and I donated the stock to a women's centre. I can't get enough of this stuff, though, so here I am again!
A couple of years ago, I moved to the country to live with my boyfriend, who is now also my business partner but I'll let François introduce himself!
